In the list of the places where I spent some of the greatest moment of my life, Santa Barbara is at the top. Here I took my first destination wedding overseas, here I came back with my family for holidays, enjoying it all sunset after sunset for a few days.
I’d never have thought to go back again – honestly, there are so many other places in the world I’d like to see – but Allice & Ronald have made it possible.
And given that I would have flown across the ocean to document their fabulous wedding, never ever I’d have missed the opportunity to shoot their pre-wedding photos as well. Even if I had already shot them on the hills of Tuscany a couple of years earlier.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned here in California, it’s that life is too short not to enjoy it – a concept a way far from the European (but not Italian) mindset. And then the location they proposed was so fascinating.
Knapp’s Castle is a must-see spot for locals and those travelling through California. The Knapp’s Castle reminds me of some of the ancient ruins.
The warm light has enhanced the beauty of the California mountains. The bride and groom-to-be have strolled around and kissed each other, in the silence of the area interrupted only by the song of some bird in the distance. Both of them are good looking, and it was a pleasure to photograph them again. Their previous experience made my job easier! No more words, please enjoy their pre wedding photos in Santa Barbara.
I’ve seen in Italy, just not as old.
The castle itself isn’t much, but it has a lovely view of Lake Cachuma and the Santa Ynez Valley through the arch wall ruins of a former villa. The sight of Santa Barbara is pretty magical, especially in the early morning or late afternoon. It’s an excellent spot for Instagram photos as well as engagement sessions and portrait photography. I asked the lovebirds to take advantage of the sunset. And it was fabulous!
