Thanks to our work as wedding photographers, over the years we have met and developed connections with many excellent vendors in the industry. Gradually some of them have become friends, with whom we have spent lovely summer nights outdoors, sipping wine and enjoying great culinary pleasures – as true Italians do. This project saw the light on one of those nights – and the excellent wine has not been a secondary factor in that decision! 😂 So we booked a flight to Malta that same evening and started looking for venues and other vendors with zest.
First, we have found the venue. Palazzo Parisio is a fantastic place to see: great architecture, antiques, and opulence, as a petite Versaille. It’s located in Naxxar, protected by imposing walls. The garden is full of lemon trees, bougainvillea, and dozens of places where you can simply sit and contemplate the beauty of the surroundings. The interior is even more luxurious, thanks to the large rooms adorned with exclusive works of art and furnishings. But what really takes your breath away is the ballroom and the other rooms on the first floor, completely decked out in gold, with artwork on the ceilings and walls. Once I discovered this gem, building an editorial shoot has been easier than a slice of cake.
Also, the mood. Do you ever wonder how the king’s daughter spends her days? Well, we thought, strolling through the conservatory dressed with flowers only, and wearing her wedding dress, looking forward to a dinner date with her groom-to-be by candlelight later at night. With that in mind, it was fantastic to direct Roxanne through the baroque halls of Palazzo Parisio. A few boudoir photos sitting on the fireplace, some by candlelight among the flowers, others while she was twirling in her gorgeous gown in the ballroom, leaving all those present speechless. A few more in the fabulous conservatory and lastly, an elegant dinner setting for two, again by candlelight.
The king’s daughter is a project inspired by a dream. And a special thank goes to all the dreamers who joined us in Malta last October, some of whom we are proud to call friends. We hope to meet you all soon and hopefully work together again for another fabulous editorial shoot.
