When planning our wedding, we had the chance to visit tons of venues here in Tuscany. Looking for the best fit was one of the most exhausting things we’ve ever done, and I realised how hard it must be from abroad. There are soooo many beautiful places in Tuscany!! And finding the best match is tough. 🙁
You must read every Trip Advisor or Facebook review, and browse hundreds of websites. Send emails, wait for a response, compare photos, etc. Of course, everything is inspiring, but also very time-consuming. A wedding planner can help you but I wish to recommend you some of the most beautiful Tuscany venues we’ve discovered through the last ten years, with a brief review along.
Here is the list of the top wedding venues of Tuscany.
Castiglion del Bosco
If you are looking for an exclusive and luxurious venue to organise your wedding, Castiglion del Bosco is the place for you. It is located a few miles from Montalcino, in the UNESCO featured Val d’Orcia Natural Park, surrounded by pristine forest and hectares of golf courses. The main Borgo is located on a hilltop and provides welcoming suites and rooms with luxurious amenities, two casual restaurants for drinks and snacks, a small church for religious ceremonies and a fascinating ruin – your wedding photographer with thank you.
All around, lost inside the property, there are ten large exclusive villas, which can be booked weekly for events and celebrations. From any spot of the property, you will enjoy panoramic views of Montalcino and the surrounding countryside.
Castiglion del Bosco is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful retreats of Tuscany; here you will find everything you would expect from a 5-star hotel and beyond. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and everything has been meticulously curated and thought out. The staff at the hotel are exceptionally courteous and professional. Highly Recommended!

Borgo Santo Pietro
The Relais Borgo Santo Pietro is a luxury hotel located in the south of Tuscany. It’s close to the beautiful Abbey of San Galgano, lost in the countryside and surrounded by the greenery. It’s a wonderful venue to organise ceremonies and receptions, thanks to the many villas to accommodate families and guests. In my opinion, it’s the best venue for elopements and honeymoons as well.
It provides a renowned restaurant, a great pool with a view and many activities to spend your days having fun!

Villa Mangiacane is an utterly decadent and luxurious 15th-century villa built by the Machiavelli family, showing the hand of the most famous Renaissance master, Michelangelo. It’s one of the most exclusive venues for destination weddings in Tuscany, located about 30 minutes far from Florence airport. Thanks to its convenient position, it’s also the best for touring Chianti, Florence and Siena areas.
The villa provides numerous areas for ceremony and reception. You can organise them in the courtyard, by the pool or in the fabulous garden with a view. The villa areas are lush and welcoming, and all the rooms are comfy and quiet with extensive vineyard views. It also has a smaller hotel on the same property, not physically in the villa – great to host friends and families from abroad. From the many terraces, you see the Duomo of Florence illuminated at night. The villa also offers wine and olive tasting tour.

Borgo Finocchieto is the greatest balance of Tuscan beauty and luxury accommodation. It’s a tiny village from before 1000, located near Montalcino, in the most glorious countryside of Tuscany. It was purchased and renovated to Reinassance beauty by former Ambassador John Phillips, with every attention to details. This lovely 800yo Borgo is comprised of a manor house and four separate villas. Thanks to its features (and to Pascale and Franco, the managers), the Borgo is a perfect wedding venue to find privacy in luxurious style.
Getting married here is a dream, for both spouses and their guests. Borgo Finocchieto makes the most of its setting, with beautiful and well-well cared grounds. Every room is super functional, and the food and wine are excellent.
The gym offers fabulous vistas of the surrounding hills; the pool is situated at the edge of the mountain providing a whimsical view of the surrounding countryside, including vineyards. Borgo Finocchieto is ideally located from the airport of Florence, for day trips to Siena and the beautiful hills towns of Tuscany. The area also offers excellent trails for general exploration or long walks.

The Lazy Olive
The Lazy Olive, also called Podere Finerri, is an ancient property located near Asciano. It is undoubtedly the venue with the most beautiful view of the whole Tuscany! Only from here, you can enjoy 360 degrees of pure Tuscan scenery and breathtaking sunsets.
There are so many places here to organise ceremonies! The reception might take place on the terrace; the owners provide an excellent in-house caterer with local food, and you can rent the whole village for you and your guests weekly. You can take advantage of the pool with a view for the cocktail hour and wedding photographs – as well as to relax during the rest of the holiday.
The countryside of Lucca is peppered with impressive villas in elegant gardens, many of them closed to the public or in state of decay as the maintenance is not provided by state funding anymore. Villa Grabau is one of the smaller ones still inhabited by the owners. Located just 5 miles from the centre, it provides a dreamy setting for anyone wishing to celebrate among the precious, centuries-old trees of the gardens.
From 1640, the Italian Garden welcomes spouses and guests with the beauty of its symmetries and the extraordinary collection of lemons in aged terracotta pots, the elegant rooms of the Villa, entirely furnished and frescoed. The gardens are impeccably well maintained and a pleasure to walk through. Most wondrous the numerous pots with lemon trees and the Orangerie with the most massive ficus you might ever see hanging from the ceilings.
You can have both civil and symbolic ceremonies in all the areas of the villa, which might host hundreds of guest with a solid backup plan. Spouses and families might also stay in the three smaller rustic villas which are also on the grounds. As for the wedding photographers, you didn’t even need to leave the villa for the pictures as there is so much variety for the backdrop within the property.
Villa Vignamaggio is a luxury farmhouse in Greve in Chianti, just an hour south of Florence. It now consists of five large properties spread extensively across the picturesque hills of Chianti. This area is famous for its legendary red wine, so the countryside is peppered with villas along extended vineyards. Villa Vignamaggio is a beautiful retreat, that provides many suites featuring wooden ceiling beams and antique amenities. There are lovely gardens, terrific vistas for lots of photo opportunities, and two swimming pools.
As for weddings, Villa Vignamaggio can accommodate intimate weddings and elopements as well as big marriages with lots of guests. The garden is the most popular spot for symbolic ceremonies. The in-house caterer, which serves simple but delicious food in a beautiful setting, is just another benefit of choosing this fabulous retreat as the venue of your event.
Casa Cornacchi is a charming farmhouse lost in the countryside between Arezzo and Siena. The property provides numerous accommodations for couples and guests, who can book villas and rooms weekly and take advantage of the common areas and the fabulous swimming pool. The villa has numerous areas and for organising both the ceremony and the reception.
Casa Cornacchi is the dream of every wedding photographer; in addition to the breathtaking view, there are many so many spots for bridal and couple portraits!
Conti di San Bonifacio
Conti di San Bonifacio is located in Maremma, one of the most impressive and less-known areas of Tuscany. The Maremma is all about nature. Here fields expanses are interrupted only by vineyards; man is just a part of this breathtaking territory.
Perched on a hill near Gavorrano stands Conti di San Bonifacio, a luxury boutique hotel that provides stylish rooms, a gorgeous swimming pool and a beautiful garden with a view for ceremonies and wedding receptions. The villa is in Tuscan-style, tastefully furnished by the owners.
Conti di San Bonifacio is the best for intimate weddings with just a few guests. It’s also the perfect place to begin a fabulous honeymoon. Click here to see some weddings we shot there!
Borgo Stomennano is the most romantic place in the world. Although being lost among olive groves and vineyards, this old village of 1300 is just 50 minutes of an easy drive from Florence airport, a stone throw from the picturesque town of Monteriggioni. Its majestic driveway, surrounded by secular cypress trees lined on the sides, will make you fall in love at first sight. The ancient estate is made up of a main bigger villa, rich and vibrant with history and elegance, plus a few rustic yet luxurious farmhouses around the infinity pool. Each set of apartments had their distinctive character, and the rooms of the villa are like a living museum.
The Borgo can host up to 200 guests and provides many different areas for every stage of the event. Here you can celebrate the ceremony on the lawn with a view on the hills, and the reception in the tree-covered backyard (complete with fairytale tower); the meal in the lovely frescoed ballroom, cake in the piano room. Or you can just ignore all of these and take a few hours to explore the venue; you will discover tons of new great spots.
As for the wedding photos, Borgo Stomennano is the dreamiest and pin-worthy wedding venue in all of Tuscany. Luisa, Nicoletta and their family (including a huge and friendly dog named Dante) handle it with care and, for this reason, it is very popular for international weddings. Couples can book the entire village weekly, and take advantage of the exceptional features, in addition to the fabulous swimming pool. The venue provides a good backup plan in case of bad weather. Before saying goodbye, don’t forget to buy the excellent wine and olive oil produced in the property. You won’t be disappointed!
Antica Fattoria di Paterno
The Antica Fattoria di Paterno is an exclusive wedding venue that is located less than an hour from Florence and its famous museums. The villa is nestled in the hills of Tuscany and is one of the most picturesque venues where you can celebrate your wedding.
The property is all about its owner, a lady who lives in a private villa next door, gifted with exquisite taste. The architecture blends seamlessly with the vegetation and the surrounding countryside. Here you can see walls crossed by creepers, windows and arches creating their space between the green and luxuriant ivy; it’s like a museum into a garden. The expertly manicured lawns, the vistas of the hills framed by the wide windows, the flowers, everything is unbelievable.
Villa Paterno doesn’t provide any accommodation for the guests, but there’s a beautiful resort nearby with lots of rooms and facilities. It’s very popular for Italian weddings also, so I do recommend to book it in advance.
Terre di Nano
If you are looking for a laid-back venue to organise an authentic Tuscan wedding with a breathtaking view, Terre di Nano is the one for you. This little gem nestled in the hills of the Val d’Orcia rises a few kilometres from Montepulciano, a legendary town in the south of Tuscany, stage, among other things, of numerous films – Twilight is one of these.
Terre di Nano has a few but stylish rooms located in various villas. Here you can have the ceremony on the lawn of a terrace with a breathtaking view, surrounded by friends and families. Another gorgeous terrace is available for aperitifs and canapes, while the wedding dinner usually take place in an olive grove, brightened by suspended light chains, amazing immediately after sunset.
Terre di Nano is perfect for weddings of up to 70 people. The property also helps lovebirds in the planning, supplying their experience and recommending the best vendors in the area. From photographers’ point of view, Terre di Nano is one of the most beautiful venues for wedding photos in Tuscany.
Borgo di Castelvecchio
Perched on the hills of the Val d’Orcia, just a few minutes drive from Pienza and San Quirico, is Borgo di Castelvecchio. This ancient village of a few houses, expertly renovated by the owners, provides unique futures for your wedding in Tuscany.
In addition to the chance of getting ready in an old-fashioned large villa, Borgo di Castelvecchio provides several areas to customise every stage of the marriage. The ceremony on the terrace overlooking the Val d’Orcia is the most popular, followed by a dinner under the branches of the great oak.
Whatever the number of your guests, Borgo di Castelvecchio is always a great choice.
Villa of Ulignano
Tiny, delightful and with lots of features. This is the Villa di Ulignano, a gemstone placed among the hills of the Tuscan countryside. It’s located a few kilometres from Volterra.
The villa offers several rooms for newlyweds and guests, in addition to the fabulous garden with a view for the wedding ceremony. The reception and cocktail hour might take place in different spots. All around, nature is the king. Villa di Ulignano is a great venue for every wedding photographer as well! Book it in advance due to the high demand.
Castello di Casole
The Castello di Casole is the ideal choice for those looking for luxury in the simplicity of a Tuscan environment. The property has greatly renovated an ancient abandoned Tuscan village, which now houses a luxury hotel and several villas with views.
The castle can host big weddings, and it’s the best fit for elopements and honeymoons. The big theatre with a view is perfect for any ceremony. It’s well connected to the most significant cities of Tuscany such as Florence and Siena.
