If you browse “Tuscany” on Instagram, you’ll find tons of photos of breathtaking landscapes, with rounded hills dotted by rows of cypress trees. I’m not exaggerating when I say that at least 70% of these images were taken in Val d’Orcia. For the ones who do not know it, Val d’Orcia is the quintessence of Tuscany. Its capital is Montalcino, home of Brunello wine and of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. A few miles away stands an old legendary estate, owned by the Ferragamo family – the famous Italian fashion brand – who have transformed it into a luxury resort: the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco.
The property consists of an old Borgo of luxurious villas, perched on a hilltop, which also includes a swimming pool, two restaurants, numerous suites and a charming little church. All around, lost among the golf fields in the most untouched scenery, many exclusive villas can be hired for private events and celebrations. In one of these, Villa Sant Anna, Nikky and Blake celebrated their wedding at Castiglion del Bosco. Nikki is a successful fashion blogger and entrepreneur – pls see here her lovely blog – and her desire was an intimate ceremony, with her lovely children as witnesses, and a few other family members and friends in tow. The quintessence of marriage, in a place that looks being made for it.
The bride and groom got ready in the villa, and then met each other at the Borgo, where Blake saw Nikki for the first time with her wedding gown on – a stunning Jenny Packham dress. The symbolic ceremony took place on the lawn, under an arch of flowers, with the lovely hills in the background. Later, after the traditional family photos by the pool, the newlyweds enjoyed canapes and cocktails, before sitting down for dinner and listening to traditional speeches. I greeted them here, after sunset, while they were enjoying the colours of the Tuscan evening. I hope to meet them again soon. In the meantime, I could spend hours scrolling through the photos of their wedding at Castiglion del Bosco!
