Portofino has always been one of the most sophisticated wedding locations for seaside celebrations. Not surprisingly, hundreds of couples from all around the world choose this village of Liguria for their destination wedding in Italy. The wedding photographers, at least once in their life, would crawl through glass to snap some wedding pictures in Portofino. I had the chance in a bright summer day!
Portofino is one of the most exclusive places in Italy. Since the early twentieth century, it has been a destination for gentlemen, counts, celebrities and artists who spend their holidays here. The harbour is always crowded with yachts and fancy boats, and it’s easy to spot some VIPs strolling through the streets of the old town of La Dolce Vita. Here you will find a miniature Italy: a little harbour, the colourful houses, the turquoise ocean, the stone-paved streets, fashion boutiques alongside open-air cafes and artisan shops. And so many people in love! You’ll see them tirelessly climbing the paths up to Brown Castle, a hilltop fortress where you can have the most beautiful view of the whole bay.
The bride and groom have opted for a catholic wedding in the church of San Giorgio. Yellow on the outside, with a pretty little square in front, inside it’s completely whitewashed, perfect for a seaside wedding. The view is so beautiful and unexpected that the guests take their time to snap some selfies before the ceremony. The reception took place at the Hotel Splendido, which is located on a hilltop facing Portofino. This hotel is one of the best Italian old-fashioned in the world. The terraces with views are the highlight. In addition to this, luxurious furnishings, a swimming pool overlooking the bay and welcoming staff. I can’t imagine a better place for a wedding reception.
After a Bellini-themed aperitif (a famous Italian cocktail with peach puree and champagne) in the garden at sunset, the newlyweds and their guests moved to the terrace for dinner. The table settings left us speechless; crystal chandeliers sprouting out from pink floral decorations, and a way too many candles. A real daydream.! I shot some couple portraits during a walk through the streets and the most impressive spots of Portofino. The bride and groom were radiant, on the most beautiful day of their lives.
For her wedding dress, the bride chose Berta Bridal, which is lately dressing the most beautiful brides in the world. The dress fully reflects all the characteristics of the brand: the tight-fitting, the deep and sensual neckline, the romantic train and all the luxury of the most delicate lace. It looked tailor-made on her! Long sleeves and soft lace veil made her beauty stand out as she walked the streets of Portofino in her Valentino shoes. The groom also chose an elegant look! His light coloured dress was perfect for the location: sand-coloured trousers and jacket, white shirt, navy blue moccasins. Here are some photos.
