Carly and Chris chose Villa Mangiacane, in the Chianti hills just outside Florence, and stretched the wedding over three days. When a couple does that it usually means they actually want time with the people they invited, and these two did.

Carly has the kind of style that looks like it costs nothing and everything at once. Chris makes strangers feel like old friends without seeming to try. Between them, the weekend had a generosity you can't put in a timeline.

The hills helped. The light came in low over the vineyards in the late afternoon, and most of the guests stayed outside long after it had gone, nobody in any hurry to move the party indoors. We kept the camera close and our voices low. Honestly, we just had to show up and pay attention.
