Among the many stories behind this fabulous wedding in Florence, one is worth telling. With the many advantages of getting married in Italy, the charm of its sacred places is often considered secondary. Italian churches are among the most impressive in the world. The historical link between the Catholic tradition and Italy shows all its value in the cathedrals, frescoed by artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. So these lovebirds well did to board the first flight and have their wedding celebrated in the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella. Where just a few are allowed to celebrate, and therefore it's even more exclusive.
And reasonably here lies the essence of this Texan wedding: few things, but vigorously sought after, of a superfine elegance. Take the capital of Italian art, add a Renaissance basilica and a 19th-century villa. Mix these with a talented wedding planner and the most popular flower designers of Tuscany. The result will be a wedding of rare elegance and a portfolio photoshoot. Hooray!
These lovebirds got ready at Villa Cora, on the hills of Florence. The bride surrounded by her bridesmaids but, above all, by her sister and her mother, who helped her to wear a gorgeous dress by Monique Lhullier. The groom toasted with his groomsmen at Pasha, before seeing her with her wedding dress on walking down the aisle.
The ceremony has been long and touching, made even more solemn by an extraordinary string quartet that played Vivaldi in the most important stages. The day was sunny and not too hot, the perfect weather for having breathtaking portraits taken in the most enchanting spots of Florence.
The guests waited for the newlyweds in the garden of Villa Cora, enjoying drinks and canapés, before taking their seats in the opulent Hall of Mirrors of the villa. Built-in the 1870s by a baron for his partner, Villa Cora is a love letter in art and architecture. The interiors show the complex passions of the aristo and his queen. The parquets, the frescoes and the statues are unbelievably gorgeous, without equal in all Florence and presumably throughout all Italy.
After dinner, the newlyweds cut the cake and danced for the first time as husband and wife, surrounded by their friends and entertained by the music of Lena Prima, daughter of Louis Prima, who came for the occasion directly from New Orleans with her band.
